The Architecture
Cypress, Iron & Time
The building's character is defined by its ornate iron lace work, sprawling verandas, and the distinctive scent of polished cypress floorboards.
As you wander through the grand timber staircase, you are walking through history. Built in 1910, the inn has been meticulously restored to maintain its heritage status while evolving into the boutique experience it is today. Every vintage portrait and antique fixture is a deliberate nod to the gold-rush era that defined this region.

We’re Maddi and Alex, the new owners of The Old Vic. To us, this beautiful old building is far more than a hotel - it’s a centre piece of Canowindra’s history, and we feel lucky to be the next people entrusted with bringing it back to life and contributing to this amazing town.
We’re slowly restoring, refreshing and reimagining The Old Vic with care, warmth and a healthy respect for its quirks. Our hope is that every guest feels the charm of a country pub, the comfort of a thoughtful stay, and the sense that this place is being loved back into its next chapter. We love meeting travellers and sharing stories and looking forward to making memories that people talk about for years to come.
